Case Study:

This new 2 tons P20 Mould (shown in pictures) used for making car interior part for a premium Car manufacturer had a wrongly machined hole around 30mm Dia. The mould maker was contemplating on making a new mould. Our repair process successfully restored this large and very expensive mould.

Problem:

As is common practice putting an insert would not help since the surface was to undergo texturizing and the insert witness mark (insert line mark) would appear on the component which would lead to quality rejection.

Wintegral’s Solution:

A P-20 insert of 30mm Dia. was fit into the wrongly drilled hole.
Precision Microwelding (300 Microns) was performed to join the insert and the mould to eliminate witness mark.
The welded area was polished and re-texturized to match the surrounding areas. No patch marks found
